Food Safety Training in Victoria (VIC)
Victoria's food safety is overseen by the Department of Health Victoria under the Food Act 1984 (Vic), with local councils registering and inspecting premises. Food businesses are classified by risk (Class 1–4); Class 1 and 2 premises must appoint a Food Safety Supervisor.
Victoria is unique in offering DoFoodSafely — a free online learning program that helps food handlers build knowledge. It is not a nationally recognised certificate, so anyone needing an FSS qualification still completes SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006 through a registered training organisation. Temporary and mobile vendors register through the Streatrader portal.
